Please join us for a special event June 24th from 4 to 6PM featuring composer Matthew Evan Taylor & Dannielle Tegeder in conjunction with the exhibition TURBULENT CONSTELLATIONS. Moderator Jeff Abel will lead a discussion between Tegeder and Evan.
“With a playful spirit, Tegeder’s drawings celebrate rationality, curiosity, expertise and inventiveness.” – Chris Miller, Newcity. Read the review here.
Andrew Holmquist will be our solo booth at Chicago’s EXPANDED, March 9-12th at MANA Contemporary.
“His use of vessels as his longtime subject, for example, easily lends itself to symbolic readings but also serves as a simple starting point for experimentation with shape, color and texture.” -Kelly Reaves (NewCity)
“The social issues of Guerrero-Maciá’s works are not so much gleaned from the signs and symbols of her artworks as they are felt through the overall environment she has created in the gallery. This exhibition is intended as a contemporary take on the notion of the salon—a haven of aesthetics, dialogue and camaraderie. In ‘SLOW BLOSSOMING,’ Guerrero-Maciá diverts some emphasis from her own messages within her pieces, shifting the focus to the important social activity we are a part of within the space and amongst the art.” – Robin Dluzen

Some great insight from the Creators Project on Shannon Finley’s creative process and what goes in to making these amazing paintings.
The future of art will live in the spaces between analog and digital, static and dynamic, and information and memory. Berlin-based artist Shannon Finley’s large paintings, titled Interference, at Carrie Secrist Gallery in Chicago, highlight both the tensions and exciting possibilities that exist within his widening expanses.
A great review of Whitney Bedford’s exhibition EAST OF EDEN in New American Paintings.
“In her large scale paintings, which steal breath like a vacuum, then tension between the beautiful and sublime is thick enough for an oxygen lance.”
Great interview with Whitney Bedford on the occasion of her exhibition EAST OF EDEN in NewCity.
“Exploring the emotional potential of the landscape, Bedford’s work is about balancing extremes and celebrating contradictions. When asked which part is stronger, she witfully replies: ‘Aren’t they the same thing?’”
